All In Good Time

SOMETIME in the 60s until the 70s, I recall how we, as a nation, was in a situation much similar to what we are in right now. This was our fight for our country’s claim to Sabah, a territory north of Borneo, which historically was ruled by the Sultan of Sulu. But what did our government do? Our leaders decided to shelve our claim to Sabah in order to improve bilateral relations of the Philippines with Malaysia.

Deja vu, isn’t it? Today, we are once more embroiled with the same issue, rather controversy. I am amazed, oh amused, at how the issue or controversy is being played. At first, I would recall how Juan would rally against the Yanks for their joint military exercises but then run to them for help when faced with a territorial dispute with Chinks.

Apparently, the very Juans who lead our country are also the very Juans who do not know what to do with this particular issue. I am confused as to who should make the decisions and what should be followed. Earlier in the term of PNoy, his choice for Ambassador to China was twice denied by the Commission of Appointments. And when the right person comes along we give her a hard time in diplomacy with the Chinks. Not to mention designating a coup plotter, mutineer and amateur to handle the affairs for every Juan in this controversy.

No wonder why only recently she resigned from her post from a heart attack. So what’s next? PNoy sends his secret weapon from his secret cabinet to do some secret dealings. Well guess what, it’s not so secret anymore. This secret agent who thinks he is the best diplomat doesn’t even have any background in diplomacy.

I did recall not so long ago when he berated and insulted his former boss that led to him killing himself! And it is this same guy that we task to do diplomatic chores for every Juan? Seemingly he is once more in the limelight. He disrespected his boss in the Senate by walking out and turning his back from a discussion; he also did so by “crashing” a Cabinet meeting and lambasting the number one honcho for diplomatic affairs and the gall to call him a traitor.

Who is the traitor? It was he who disrespected his elders and his boss. Lest we forget he was the one who plunged our economy to the bottom by staging the Oakwood mutiny. He escaped from his hearing to take over another hotel, what is up with him and hotels? Funny, but this time his choice of hotel, which was the Manila Peninsula, caused his failure.

Fortunately, for every Juan, these pea brained soldiers, brainwashed by this guy, were supposed to join him but ignorantly couldn’t find the Peninsula in Manila because it is located in Makati. Hahaha. It may well have been called the Makati Peninsula. I’m glad PNoy with his higher ratings did what he did in selecting this secret agent to deal with the Chinks in our behalf. I would like to see the next ratings after this fiasco.

If I were the DFA Secretary I would resign and leave it all up to this guy. Maybe, this not so secret envoy can do a better job. The Chinks must have realized that we Pinoys will eventually destroy each other so the Chinks can just watch and wait….no wonder their Premier didn’t bother to have a meeting with our President anymore. Maybe in the end just like Sabah, we’ll mess it up again. All without a fight.

We just might as well give the Chinks what they want because we have the right guy fighting the battle for every Juan. Let’s elect him again just like all the other actors. Maybe they know something we do not know. I guess they think that it is just like in the movies, he probably thinks he is agent X44. Or just like PNoy, he thinks he is playing a new role playing game (RPG) in his PSP. Now this is the kind of Pinoys we really are, without a soul, and scarred for life.
