Ingenious athlete

ATHLETES are usually underrated when it comes to academics. Not many, whether we accept it or not, are as gifted as academic scholars who are fortunate to land in high profile schools or universities because of their extraordinary intellectual ability. Those who excel in math, science and other subjects are called wise, intelligent or even geniuses.

Although graduating cum laude and with honors are not common among athletes (but there are also many who are talented in both sports and academics), prestige and awards also abound in their craft. These are proofs of their hard work and dedication to their chosen field.

Many may disagree but I believe elite athletes are also geniuses in their own right. They may have a different kind of mental development which corresponds to their being athletes, but who question their exceptional skills which are sometimes patented to them? How could they not be called geniuses when they understand the ways of the game and develop a strategy to excel in it?

Apart from the physical persona of sports, it is also being said that the strategies being used has a corresponding science. Some sports have mathematical computations behind it, physics. Understanding sports nowadays has gotten to a level where anything and everything that happens in the playing court and to the athlete has a possible scientific explanation.

An athlete may not always be an intellectual genius, but maybe no one questions if I say that athletes are life livers. –JLV-

An athlete’s ingenuity is actually a balance of intellectual and physical attributes which are continually developed through correct training; an athlete asserts to possess the attributes of a good leader, quick decision maker, calm under pressure and the physical capability to execute. These attributes of an athlete that they pursue to achieve is a feat they continually aspire to attain and with every training they go through makes them geniuses of their craft honed by the experiences that they pass through. How they achieve to be champions and in the end realize that goal makes them ingenious able to set a goal and achieve it is one feat not many accomplish and an athlete live that kind of life, willing to take a fall in order to get back up and try again until victory is met. Ingenious indeed!
