Cold weather

WELL, it's that time of the year again when Baguio folks experience the cold climate in the country’s Summer Capital. It's that time of the year again where we see ourselves sorting our jackets to fight off the cold weather.
Just last Wednesday, Pagasa registered 11 degrees Celsius as the coldest morning so far. But knowing our weather, it's just the start. Let's expect colder weather, especially during the first and second weeks of February.
But during this time, upper respiratory diseases are prevalent. The health department in our region advised us to drink lots of fluids. And of course, meat will be a staple for highlanders like us in the Cordilleras.
However, we have to remember to consume it in moderation. As they say, everything done in moderation will prove for the better for all of us.
At the same time, during this time of the year, cases of asthma may increase. So be cautious and do the necessary preventive measures for in the end, prevention is better than cure.
Liquor they say helps combat the cold. But let's not use this as an excuse to dwell so much on alcoholic beverages. Just consume what's right.
And what about additional blankets? Well, I'd go for human blankets since this produces better heat. But additional blankets should be a must during this time.
And finally, let's follow the creed of our health experts. Prevention is better that cure specially during this cold weather.
