The relational aspect of teaching

MOST teachers care about imparting knowledge to students. But the good teachers also care about the relational aspect of teaching. They take time to establish a trusting and caring connection with their students, who in turn become more receptive to lessons being taught. They get to know their students' interests, talents, and needs, which helps them prepare lessons and helps students feel the partnership of the learning experience.
Showing students you care about them helps create a positive, supportive relationship and helps build an environment where learning can flourish. And you're modeling behavior that you want students to learn and emulate.
Students will connect, respect, and feel more comfortable with a teacher who they feel cares about them. Students will be more receptive to a teacher if they have a relationship based on trust and respect. It does take time to make these connections but in the end students will work harder and even complete work they don't find interesting if they have a connection with the teacher.
Caring however does not mean permissive. Caring means you care enough to establish rule and follow them even though the students may not like it. The students will respect you because of that and realize you care about him/her more than you care about having an easy day.
Teachers communicate caring in many ways, including how they structure the learning environment. Almost everyone enjoys the company of a caring teacher. A caring teacher can make the students feel wonderful about learning, about school, and about themselves. Caring teachers are better than grumpy teachers because they not only instruct, but inspire. They not only enlighten students, but encourage. They not only assess students, but also assist to improve the lives of each individual learner. I believe that it is possible that the demeanor of the teacher in the classroom can attract more students to learn, regardless of the subject matter. (Rufino Domilio)
