MORE and more indigent communities will be given help with the annual medical-dental-optical mission and other community service projects of Brent International School Baguio which is successfully implemented with the good partnership among the students, school administration, and the Parents Teachers Association (PTA).
For this year Brent International School Baguio - PTA SY 2012-2013 under the leadership of its president Julie Flores Temple takes another stride in raising more funds purposely for the said endeavor by organizing the 3rd Brent Run, an activity which is also one way to maintain one’s good health.
Take the Challenge … New route … Longer distance happening at Brent Run 3!!! That’s what the organizer is offering for the event set on March 17, 2013, Sunday. Assembly time is at 5:00 A.M while Gun Start at 5:30 A.M. at the campus which is also the finish line
According to Assistant Race Director Melan Ku Marquez they are hoping to have 500-700 participants for the unconventional distances of 7K, 11K, and 22K. She also said that the route itself is something new and more challenging because it is a combination of road and trail.
“Runners will also be given the opportunity to enjoy Brent's trail which is not usually open to the public,” Marquez added.
Accepting the challenge of this upcoming race are some professors and staff from the College of Arts and Sciences of the University of the Cordilleras who are now excited for the run. Some of them are joining a fun run for the first time.
Communication Department Instructor Katrina Mamaril said joining the race will serve as a meaningful experience on her part. “This means understanding the beauty of how things ‘begin’ and the essence of why things ‘end’. It is about knowing more about yourself and knowing your limits and bounds,” she said.
Team frontrunner handles the race management and supervision while Jonel Mendoza is the Race Director and Rowena Joaquin as the Assistant Coordinator.
Interested runners may register at Brent International School Baguio at Brent Road, Baguio Country Mart Session Road, Baguio Palace Hotel along Legarda Road, and Total Motorparts in La Trinidad. Registered participants will receive a dri-fit commemorative shirt, race bib, finisher's Certificate and snacks while cash prizes and medals await top finishers.
For twice or thrice I have been a part and a witness to the annual medical-dental-optical mission of Brent School being a member then of the Rotary Club of Metro Baguio, the partner of the school for the said endeavor. I’ve seen a big number of needy people from children to senior citizen benefiting from the outreach project. This is through the effort done then by the students who were able to raise funds for selling collected recycled items and other fund raising activities.
This run is not about pushing people to their limits but determining how far they can go. More than that Brent Run means helping more disadvantaged people in the community. This run for a cause means touching the lives of those that needed help the most Let us all support this undertaking.
