HAVE you seen the recent advice on television asking each and every Juan of us to turn off their lights this day? It is mostly featured in Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet and many others syndicated over our own cable television.
Anyway, I thought you might have noticed to find in the 30 second infomercial a glimpse or rather "flash" of ME. This is being run almost every 15 minutes in these channels. You will never miss it, as I have not. The first time I watched it, it got my attention as me together with my family would always take part in this world wide event.
Funny, as I was watching, and to my surprise, I thought I saw myself in it. I waited for the next just to be sure, even asking my kids for confirmation. We went as far as having a camera but it was just too fast. We finally had a solution to make confirmation on this "flash" of a figure from my iPhone of course in video, why didn't I think of that sooner? So there it will be saved in my iPhone forever.
Hundreds of times I would watch it and only yesterday did I get that "bright idea" from my high-tech kids. I'm sure I could relate to many other parents whose children are way, way light years ahead in technology use. Or should I say just not as complicated as the way we are, I have a top of the line professional camera; however, I never thought of video.
All it had to take was just the simple cellphone, although not so simple as it was an iPhone. Imagine me staying late up at night just to await the infomercial. I would assume that it was never run during the day time as it had no impact or that most of us would either be in school or at work. Thus the difficulty of using a camera because it was just dark and too fast. I did try with a camera flash but it would have been too bright that there was even a flash back as what I would have wanted to take was too bright. I would even position myself farther and use a zoom lens, but to no avail. Finally upon the suggestion of my kids for video I did get it, all of it in fact. Yehey! Imagine that!
So what's the fuss? We all took part in this activity together with the Department of Energy, the country actually won in this worldwide event in 2009. Our city was just fortunate to have been chosen as the highlight for that event that time. Please take part in today's world wide event to switch off all our lights even for just an hour, tonight. I will just hope that our city will be taking part in this event. I might not have noticed for an advice for us to take part though. Whether it be in the mall, or somewhere I'm just not aware of any. Nevertheless we can still do our own part in taking part in this worldwide activity. So LIGHTS OUT, please!
