AMIDSt all the conflicts happening around the world causing the lives of people is a prayer that these would end soon.
Peace around the world is what the United Nations is hoping for. May this be felt in the observance of United Nations International Day of Peace on September 21 where all nations and people around the globe are requested to honour a cessation of hostilities and commemorate the occasion through education and public awareness on issues related to peace.
The call for peace is reflected in the posted message of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in the UN website where he calls on everyone to be part in the campaign for peace.
“On this International Day of Peace, let us pledge to teach our children the value of tolerance and mutual respect. Let us invest in the schools and teachers that will build a fair and inclusive world that embraces diversity. Let us fight for peace and defend it will all might,” the UN Secretary-General said.
International Day of Peace is a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. This was established in 1981.
