Acceptance and moving forward-A A +A
Thursday, September 26, 2013
BEFORE anything else and on behalf of my brothers Joel, Nathaniel and sister Ruth, we wish to extend our warmest thanks to each and everyone of you who have, in one way or another, extended their support during the passing of our father Socorro G. Llanes also known to my colleagues in media as Pops last September 17, 2013.
Special thanks to Sun.Star publisher Sir Rey Bautista; Sun.Star president and CEO and former Baguio City Mayor Peter Rey Bautista; Sun.Star editor-in-chief Maan Cacdac; Sun.Star managing editor and Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club president Roderick Osis and to my BCBC family; PTV-4 general manager Cleo Dong-gaas and my PTV family; Wo Rosete of Smart Communications; and Dra. Jamie Manzano-Agbayani and Melody Brawner of John Hay Management Corporation.
Some 13 years ago on the 23rd of December, my Mom Dra. Adoration Trias-Llanes left us and joined her creator. A tough time for us four siblings, grandchildren and my gather since it came a time when we were all supposed to celebrate the birth of Christ.
With this experience, I had to become strong and accept the fact that Mom had to go ahead of us and the pressure of moving forward was at hand.
And just last week, my Dad had to join Mom. Well, ultimately, all of us will follow suit.
Losing a loved one entails strength and even wisdom. I have often told my nephews to be strong once the Day of Judgment comes. We cannot afford to be weak at this juncture.
The thought of moving forward will always follow our moment of grief. It is the mark of strength from someone.
Acceptance in human psychology is a person's assent to the reality of a situation, recognizing a process or condition (often a negative or uncomfortable situation) without attempting to change it, protest, or exit. The concept is close in meaning to 'acquiescence', derived from the Latin 'acqui?scere' (to find rest in).
And with this said, after accepting this experience, it is now time to move forward. And to Papang, say hello to Mamang and extend my thanks to the Almighty for giving us you and Mom as our parents.
