THERE'S an itchiness that could not be scratched. In my case last year it comes with a name: wanderlust. From our Holy Week trip to a destination quite far away, to my college BFFs getaway in Davao-Samal Island and before the year ended, for Hubby’s 40th birthday, an island getaway. I meant it as a joke, like some killer invite which will go: “How would you like to spend your 40th birthday in an island, with beautiful women?” LOL. He ended up with eight: four girls in the family, and my soul sister Sharon and her girls. It was expected to be a riot, and the birthday boy had nowhere to hide, no choice but to keep up with us beautiful, talkative, crazy, strong-willed femmes.

Palawan was the first choice, zeroing in on which part thereof was next. After some (not much) ado, we decided on Puerto Princesa and searched for an agency that offers Puerto Princesa travel packages that are reasonably priced. This took much of our evenings searching and reading offers, reviews, recommendations and many other considerations. Between e-mailing and sending several text messages to different agencies, I settled for an agent/ agency manager with the “tone”. What’s the “tone”? I do have that weird habit of “listening” to how people “talk” online or through text messages and base their attitudes from there: rudeness, kindness, sincerity (uh no, sometimes not really), but anyway, you get the gist. Anyway, Russell from E-Philippines Adventure Travel and Destinations had it. He “sounded” nice on text. LOL. Well, add to that the fact that they have a good FB page and rave reviews from clients. You see it’s our first time to travel with the services of an agency and I have read nightmare reviews about some really bad ones, so extra precaution needed.

So we made our choice (based on the tone hahaha) and booked our November 29 trip with E-Phil. The travel package we requested for quote included a half-day city tour, firefly watching, island hopping at Honda Bay, Underground River tour, 3-night accommodation. E-Philippines Adventure Travel and Destinations had just that, and more: free breakfast every day of our stay, airport transfers, shuttle service to each tourist hub, boat transfers and permits, buffet lunch at Honda Bay and Underground River. Seeing the travel package offer, it felt like it was a steal.
Little did we know that we still have yet to understand that phrase “it was a steal” – which we did when the tour actually began. It was an incredible one, and we got such a good deal for P5,550 per person. The guardian angel of travels blessed us with E-Phil’s package, and efficient crew.
