My Dearest...

KRRRRRRRRING... Krrrrrrring... Krrrrrrrng... A phone ringing early in the morning usually gives us the creeps, or startles us with a jolt of anxiety, accompanied by increased blood pressure. Emergency? Concerning relatives? The business? Accident? Fire?

But, there’s a certain sound in my phone, which I almost always welcome with a smile and excitement, no matter what time of day. This is the VIBER sound from my NOVALES Family group.

Several years ago, I would never have thought I would use an Iphone. I was so comfortable with my simple Nokia phone, and I had no problems with it. It’s been almost three years since my children gifted me with my Iphone 4S, and since then, I have been a Steve Jobbs fan. There are just so many applications that I love using in it. One of these is the Viber.

What is Viber? Viber†is a mobile application that allows you to make phone calls and send text messages to all other†Viber†users for free!†Viber†is available over WiFi or 3G. In other words, “Viber†lets everyone in the world connect. Freely! Millions of†Viber†users call, text, and send photos to each other, worldwide- for FREE.”

Amazing!! Of course there are other applications similar to it, like Whatsapp, Tango and Line. But, I just love Viber!

My siblings (all 8 of them are in the USA) and I regularly communicate through emails/FB group. We also use the Skype once in awhile. But, Viber has brought us closer and more in touch with one another through regular text greetings, calls, updates and sharing of pictures/short videos. We have a Viber group which includes all nephews, nieces, and in laws. We have another group exclusively for just the siblings and spouses. Because of this, no matter how rarely we actually see one another; we feel the love and care which binds stronger the flimsy cord that connects us to one another.

My Dearest Children,

You have been witnesses to the deep love and closeness that my siblings and I have for one another. This is the product of the example that my parents (your maternal grandparents, Lolo Ne and Lola Guing) have shown and taught us. I pray that your relationship with one another as siblings will even be stronger as the years go by, even as each of you start to have families of your own.

A loving family is one of the greatest gifts that we could ever have in this life. It’s been said, “You can choose your friends, but you can’t choose your family.” Belonging to our family is a given, whether you like it or not. Each one of you belongs to the families of both your father and I.

A loving family is one you and I have to continually work on! Candice, you are included here! J

One of the ways that we could strengthen the ties that bind us is through regular open communication. I urge you to keep your lines of communication open. No need to use Viber/Line for this J; after all we see one other almost every day!

But on the other hand, when each one of us become so engrossed with our own activities; sometimes, a short text or group (Viber/Line) message is all it takes to show we care. And this my children, is why I love Viber!

Did I tell you today, I love you? Well, I hope you read this. If not, I am just so glad there is Viber! J
