YOUNG aspiring singers in Baguio City are given the chance to advance their creative pursuit in the field of music and make a name in the industry through the first ever “Boses ng Baguio: Search for Baguio City’s new singing sensation.”

Organized by renowned tenor Baguio based John Glenn Gaerlan in partnership with the Association of Barangay Kagawads (ABK) headed by its president Eva Fianza, BNB is a friendly singing competition inspired by the international popular singing competition "The Voice."

Fianza said the competition which aims to recognize the potential of the singers of Baguio ages 15-30 years old is strictly for Baguio residents only. She added measures such as requiring contestants to submit a resident certificate will be implemented. Contestants must not have competed likewise in any national or international competitions and do not have any contract with any production company or agency.

More than the prizes which range from P2,000 as consolation award to P30,000 for the grand winner what is unique in the competition is that the winners will be given opportunities to represent the city in any other competition outside the city with the support of BNB.

Preliminary auditions for the ten barangay clusters and districts representing the 128 barangays in the city will run from five to six weeks. This will be followed by the Semi-Finals on July 27 and Grand Finals on August 9 at Baguio Convention Center.

With this competition for sure more talents will be discovered and follow the footsteps of some Baguio residents like Ingrid Payaket and Darryl Shy who where given the opportunity to shine by joining a singing competition.

Before even these singing competition television shows became popular there are already several music artists who were able to make a name in the music industry like the brother and sister team of Hannah and Chavi Romawac of Session Road Band. We also have the 1970’s musician Tito Mina who is now based in the US and many more.

Baguio has been known as a home of great singers. It is also a haven of great musicians!
