Text Messages – Dream. Believe. Act-A A +A

I HAVE at least five friends who text me forwarded messages or personalized words of inspiration daily. I am sure many of you receive similar daily messages. I used to suspect that the telephone companies had or still have a department that composes, compiles, or researches on nice “forwardable” quotes that it sends to people to start off a “text brigade” of sorts. This generates more revenues for their businesses. However, for whatever reasons they are made, the good and enlightening messages are “Chicken Soup” for the souls.
Among some original unforwarded messages, I get one daily from a retired 92-year-old priest, Fr. Tchang. He sends me his daily reflection on the day’s bible reading in a short and concise manner. Another one is from Doc Rene, who writes down the bible reading, his prayers and insights on it, a prayer to the saints of the day, plus a prayer in a foreign language. His message can range from 1 to 2 kb of text!
Another friend who texts me daily is Tony Herrera, a publisher of a newspaper in Bohol. Here is one he sent a few days ago:
“No matter how our dreams may seem unreachable, DREAM THEM ANYWAY.
No matter how our prayers seem unanswered, PRAY THEM EVERYDAY.
And no matter how hard life is, LIVE IT THE BEST WAY.
Because whatever problem there is, GOD will surely help us FIND A WAY!”
It is a beautiful reminder to be positive, persistent, persevering and prayerful.
It is so apt for me, as I prepare to give a talk to group of Insurance people at the Manor in John Hay tomorrow. I plan to talk about “Dream. Believe. And Act”.
If every dream we have has come true, then what is there to look forward to?
If some dreams are elusive, they are meant to be so.
Aspire! Believe they will be fulfilled. Believe you are capable of achieving them.
Believe that if you can't, God can!
Mark 11:24 says, “Whatever you ask in prayer, believe you have received it, and it will be yours.”
Life is meant to be challenging. Otherwise, who would look forward to living in eternal peace, if life were always a bunch of roses, without the thorns.
Just like knowledge that is not applied or put into action, dreams will remain elusive unless and until you do something to make them a reality.
Do your best. Pray. And let God do the rest.
Keep praying, even when the odds are against you. With God on your side, who or what can be victorious against you?

Fill your hearts and minds with all the knowledge that technology makes available at your fingertips and on your screens.
There is so much to learn. However, there is also so much time that can be wasted when your attention is diverted to games and unproductive programs. They can even be addictive, much like an addiction to cigarettes, alcohol and gambling.
Catch yourself when you find yourself getting attracted to unwholesome movies or topics. Do the physical and mental shift to something more pleasant and worthy.
Mind what your thoughts and eyes are exposed to.
Philippians 4:8-9 says it best: “Whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.
Whatever you have learned for received or heard from me, or seen in me – put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”
