Editorial: The good, the bad and the ugly

-A A +A

WE wanted the “Baguio, light and easy” as this year’s theme for our Baguio Day edition.

We wanted only to highlight the best of the city in terms of governance, rest and recreation, tourism and sports.

But a last minute fallout in research paved way to plan B. The good. The bad. The ugly.

Living here in the Summer Capital is not without its challenges. Case in point, Athletic Bowl.

And then we have the nasty.

Mt. Kabuyao.

Last year’s Baguio Day edition focused on water and we will talk about issues on water until we see changes and concrete steps being taken to protect our water sources. Not promises written on, well, water.

Dismal.

But by God, we just love this city.

The privilege of calling Baguio City as “home” is something which runs deep among us.

And even if the means by which we express our love and by which we try and protect our city differ, in our hearts we only wish the best for Baguio.

This is what’s good in us.

We stay. We fight for what we think is right. We may not always agree but we find a way to live harmoniously, anyway.

But perhaps this is what Baguio most needs from its sons and daughters - that we take a stand.

A stand to make things right.

Happy birthday, Baguio!
