Sungduan: Serving humanity

A PARTNERSHIP between the Rotary Club of Metro Baguio (RCMB) and the Rotary Club of Hadano Naka of Japan may help soon address the need of some residents in Baler, Quezon Province for a long lasting water supply from a safe source using efficient pipelines.

Initial talks for the said undertaking dubbed “Water is life community project” started with the visit of RC of Hadano Naka Director Shingo Komaki and wife Rotary Ann Yahney Rudan of Rotary International District 2780 Japan during the regular meeting of RCMB on May 2, 2017 at the Crown Legacy Hotel.

Yahney who trace her roots in Benguet, has soft spot for Baler being a resident there for years before she moved to Japan, was able to coordinate with International Partner RCMB represented by Past President and District 3790 Cluster 1C Past Assistant Governor Lyman Salvador through Wordlink Consulting Solutions proprietor Audrey Sungduan, an active community service coordinator who served as a link between the two clubs.

The plan which is in line with this year’s Rotary theme “Serving Humanity” intends to give water supply and sanitation services to selected small towns in the country. The water pipeline project includes the upgrade or construction of water supply systems for up to 3-4 barangays with 2 kilometers of water supply pipelines and 5,000 household connections of estimated capacity of 10,000 cubic meters per day.

The proposal in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Baler (Cooperating Organization) is seen to answer the long prayer and appeal of the residents in barangay Kadyakan Maria Aurora Province for the replacement of their old water pipelines which were destroyed at the height of Typhoon Lando in October 2015.

May this partnership prosper to address the concern of a community for continuous and effective source of clean water that they badly need.

With strong partnership of organizations, more people will be given help, more humanity will be served.
