CONGRATULATIONS to the University of Baguio School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management for again bagging the championship in the Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism (HRT) Weekend competitions concluded recently. UB has retained the championship for seven years in a row!
The 7th HRT competition carried the theme, "A Gastronomical Adventure in the Cordilleras." It is one of the local hotel, culinary, and tourism industry's biggest competitions today. This year, UB bested 36 other schools bagging a record 31 medals: nine gold, 14 silver, and eight bronze-in 30 categories, including the Miss Hotel and Restaurants Association of Baguio (HRAB) 2010 crown and the HRAB Got Talent Too championship.

By participating and excelling in competitions like this, our students are also getting exposure and hands-on experience in the different aspects of their profession. The humility and culture of teamwork between and among the faculty members and students of the UB School of IHTM have put them on top of their trade - champions in their field! No wonder their graduates are among the most sought after in the hospitality industry.

May I also congratulate another batch of professionals ready to join the workforce - our 360 new nurses who passed the July 2010 Nursing Licensure Examination! Be the best in your field, wherever your nursing profession may take you. Make your loved ones and your Alma Mater proud.
As an advance announcement for those still looking for a job, the Bangkok Medical Center is recruiting UB Nursing graduates for its branch in Saudi Arabia. This is one of our employment programs exclusively for our graduates. Visit the Dean's Office of the School of Nursing for the requirements and other details.

And another piece of good news for our students - UB has just entered into an agreement with FastTrack Solutions to adopt SAP Business One, a leading business management program/software that allows users to operate basic and advanced logistics, accounting, and other core business processes. This program will be integrated into accounting, business and other related subjects under the schools of Business Administration and Accountancy, International Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Information Technology.
Since majority of big and medium-sized businesses today are using this software in their day-to-day operations, our students are immediately ready for employment upon graduation without further training on the software. We believe this investment will go a long way to giving our graduates a competitive advantage in their future careers.
