OFFICIAL of the City Environment and Parks Management (Cepmo) confirmed that the extreme heat experienced in the country did not affect the Burnham Lake.

Joyce Aragones, assistant department head of Cepmo, said “the (Burnham) lake is not drying up due to the climate” and added that the occurrence of evaporation is normal during summer season “but not drying up.”

“It is too early to worry about something that is not there yet,” she said.

Aragones said the Cepmo recently met with the boating concessionaires and not one of them complained about the reported drying up of the water.

Aragones assured the lake to be open to guests who wish to go boat-riding.

The Cepmo though, has prepared contingency measures in the event the lake dries up, as the hottest days of summer is expected.
