Poll candidates hold closing rally

CANDIDATES for various positions in Baguio City are gearing up for various gimmicks and party rallies to convince voters before the May 10 national and local elections.

Partido ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) congressional candidate Edgar Avila was the first to hold his post proclamation rally Sunday. He was joined by the PMP’s presidential and vice presidential candidates Joseph Estrada and Jejomar Binay.

Independent candidate Reinaldo Bautista Jr., meanwhile, slated his meeting de avance on May 8. His campaign manager RL Altomonte said a thanksgiving mass is tentatively scheduled at the Igorot Garden in the morning and a concert late in the afternoon.

The Liberal Party (LP) assured that its closing salvo on May 8, from 2 to 10 p.m., at the Sunshine Park will also be as grand as its opening.

Lawyer Jose Olarte said LP candidates with their family members will also hold a cultural concert on the same day.

The Nacionalista Party, led by Councilor Rocky Thomas Balisong, will hold a parade on May 7 at 1 p.m. from the Baguio Convention Center to the Malcolm Square. A motorcade rally will follow on May 08.

The Timpuyog ti Baguio will also holding its meeting de avance on May 8 at 3 p.m. at the Melvin Jones grandstand. (Rimaliza Opiña)
