SINGING sensation Sarah Geronimo has charmed her way to the hearts of Baguio locals.

Geronimo who was in town for her the Baguio leg of her concert entitled, "Sarah Geronimo: 'Record Breaker' Philippines 2010,” faced the local press with her simple charm, uncanny for celebrities.

Geronimo thanked the people of Baguio for the warn reception. “I was here years ago; I am so happy that the people here are still happy to see me.”

Geronimo just finished a US and Canada tour and is now embarking to bring her music nationwide. The Baguio leg of the tour was set at the University of Baguio gym with special guests Christian Bautista, Charlie Green, Jimmy Marquez and XLR8 with the G-Force dancers.

Louie Ocampo directed the musical special. The concert series will continue on July 30 at the Waterfront Hotel, Cebu and on Aug. 6 at the Atrium, Limketkai Center at Cagayan De Oro.

Geronimo said her plans to include staying in the music industry for as long as people will still accept her as she is. “What you see is what you get,” she said adding there are no added frills in her personality.

Geronimo said “I credit this to the upbringing of my parents, their guidance has taught me to be humble.”

The concert is for the benefit of the cancer support group, Mindas Buddies, it was established in the early 2000 by Minda Ulingan, who was inflicted with cancer. It has since been led by Noney Marzan, who was also a victim of breast cancer, who died in 2004.

Minda’s Buddies is now led by Marivic Bugasto, currently battling with the disease. (Maria Elena Catajan)
