SLU Boys High basketball Justice League launched

TWELVE teams from the various batches of the Saint Louis University (SLU) Boys High School will vie for top honors as the SLU Boys High School Basketball Justice League recently opened at the SLU Laboratory High School.

Two divisions, the 80s and the 90s comprise the twelve teams are currently playing in the single round robin format of tournament organized by SLU Boys High batch 86.

98 Degrees '98 and Warriors 95 are currently pacing the division one with a similar two win records, while Batchellors '85, Meat Lovers '87 and Wakads '86 are all bunched up for first place in the division 2 with similar 2 win and one loss records.

The tournament is one of the many activities slated for the school year-2010-2011, leading up to the celebration of the school's alumni homecoming in January of next year.

Games are currently being played during the weekends up to the last week of May, when the champions for each of the brackets will be determined in a one-game, winner take all match between the top two teams.

The organizers were likewise looking to run a tournament for the children of the Boys High graduates in the 10-12 years and 13-15 years categories, set to begin April 30.

Despite the tough competition, the organizers have instituted changes to the rules, as a way of reminding the participants of the activities ultimate objective of good, clean fun.

Among the innovations made by the organizers is the free throw shootout instead of a five-minute extension in case the teams are tied at the end of regulation.

Rules on player conduct were likewise reinforced, to maintain discipline and encourage players to compete in the spirit of friendship and camaraderie.

SLU Boys High Basketball Justice League is made possible successful through the partnership of Boys High batch '86 with Trips Resto Bar, Dr. Joey Ancheta, Office of the City Mayor and SLU Laboratory High School Principal, Franz Agoot.
