THEREare certain things that one missed during this year’s Panagbenga.
One of them happens to be the drum-beating techno sounds along Session Road.
Last year, there were two of them. It just added life to last year’s celebrations. It placed a skip and jump, as well as a constant jive to one’s steps. I know it added some spending money to our different establishments.
So what went on?
Wasn’t it successful last year that the concept of Baguio’s version of Brazil’s 24-hour drum-beating carnival just does not translate? Friends and acquaintances do not think so. The techno and electro sounds would draw out our clubbers even during the day just for them to get a head start on shaking their bootilicious bods and waving their extremities to the crowd of passersby.

There is a niche for such a booth in the Flower Festival. As such, with its absence, it appeared to be just an ordinary tiange along Session Road. I know of some individuals who actually looked for it during this year’s celebrations. Imagine visitors and other revelers dancing to house music in broad daylight? It would be similar to Rio or New Orleans. Trance and all its permutated relatives have to be in there somewhere in that incline next year. Session Road in bloom should also be Session Road in boom! Add more to what Session Road in Bloom has to offer, not only food and plants, as well as arts and crafts, but let Session Road be livelier during the final week of the celebrations.
So, this early, got any DJs in mind to spin? I can recommend some people. Or, if you may have the money, I would suggest DJ Tiesto. Book him now.
