Fil-Am lower flight winners take center stage

PINES Golf of California shot a modest 95 points to win the Fil Seniors B title as the division open for 55 years and older of the 62nd Fil-Am Invitational golf tournament drew to a close Thursday evening.

Modesto Tolentino scored 27 points for the team, which ended up with 343 points and 22 points over its nearest rival. Billy Dulay added 24, while Roger Munar and Perry Alviar chipped in 22 each.

Ding Roman scored 27 points and lead Capitol Hills to 94 and 321 aggregate to finish at second place, while Team Brassie–Mendoza had 74 for 312 points to take third place.

Summer Capital GC–North’s rally fell short with Paeng Ding and physician Bayani Tecson, scoring 28 points and lead the local team’s 102 production to finish second behind Saver’s ComClark, which shot a closing 97 for 375 points and the title in Fil F.

It was a gallant stand for the local team, as it battled from 24 points down after the second round and rallied to within nine on day three.

Senen Quiambao scored 30 points to close for Saver’s in the five-to-play, four-to-count tournament backed by Toyota, Pacsports, Illy, Empire and Wilson.

Waterlympics Clark wound up third after a 96 and 353 total.

Ric Santos shot 22 points, lead the Fil-Hawaiian GC’s final round of 76 and 333 total for the Am Seniors B title, which is 30 up on Team Brassie which closed with a 64 and 303. Golf F Team ended up third after a 75 and 294 tally in the event backed by Fashion Rack, Air 21, Rizgolf, Supreme Bike, GPS Tracker, Golforce, San Miguel, Le Chef, Camp John Hay Development Corporation, Beaufort and Bayan Business.

Kalinga Vice Governor Sonny Mangaoang concluded a splendid four rounds of golf with a 27 and lead Mountaineers GT to a modest 73 for the team’s 328 aggregate to win the Am F title.

That is 43 points off Benguet Lab, which carded a 72 for 285 and another 19 shots off Baguio Ventures I, which closed with a 69 and 266.

Square and Compass Nueva Ecija 2, meanwhile, scored 63 and finished with 275 and took a 20-point victory in Am H. Team Las Vegas had a 62 with John Paul Puckett top scoring with 22 and 255 total for second place. Square & Compass NE 3 had a 69 for 240 for third place.

Action in the regular division from flights A to E resumes Monday as the second half of the annual golfing tournament is undergoing.

The premiere championship flights in the Fil and am division plunges into action Wednesday at the Camp John Hay and Baguio Country Club fairways.
