Surigao, Baguio teams sizzle in Fil-Am

ROY Abalos shot another 34 points to earn the top honors in Fil flight A with his Team Surigao basking in glory at the close of the 62nd Fil-Am Golf Invitational Tournament at the Baguio Country Club and Camp John Hay fairways.

Philippine Navy Golf Club and Darwin Golf Club Australia settled for second and third honors, respectively, while Crystal Dew TGIS Davao edged Baguio Country Club to win the top honors in the Am division as Rural Bankers 2 settled for bronze.

Ultra Flight golf Club 1 won the top honors in the Fil B flight division with Mamala Bay and Davao Eagle Masters 1 settling for second and third, respectively, as Baguio Ventures 2 led by James Wong took the top honors in the Am division with Greenwater Meadows, featuring the Puckett siblings, bagged second while Guam Kool Swingers salvaged third.


Isabala Golf Club 1 took the top honors in the Fil C division as Sea Bridge Che’lus 1 and Ultra Flite Golf Club 1 were second and third, respectively, while Seabridge Che’lus 2 took the top honors in the Am division with AAV Ventures Link and Guam Kool Swingers as runners up in the tournament presented by Toyota.

Fil-Am Seattle won the Fil D division edging Sea Bridge Che’lus 2 while Palm Grove 1 salvaged third place honors with Batman taking the top honors in the Am division with New Jersey New York Bibak settling for second as Square and Compass Golf of Nueva Ecija bagged third place.

Baguio City Golf Team, meanwhile, topped the flight E Fil division composed of Inoc Laranang, Moises Guevarra, Herr Bautista, Tony Tactay, and Willy Taccayan while Fil Golfers of Honolulu won the top honors in the Am division.

Bautista incidentally won the individual honors in the Fil E division of the tournament also backed by Fashion Rack, Air 21, Rizgolf, Supreme Bike, GPS Tracker, Golforce, San Miguel, Le Chef, Camp John Hay Development Corporation, Beaufort and Bayan Business.

Some 1,287 parbusters from around the pacific took time out to join the Guinness listed largest and longest amateur golfing tournament in the world.
