Bantiag, Benito topple foes in Team Lakay elims-A A +A

LAKAY UC wushu lived up to expectations as Troy Bantiag and Amado Benito toppled separate foes in the Team Lakay mix martial arts (MMA) and wushu xanda eliminations dubbed Arsenal at the La Trinidad municipal gym during the weekend.
Bantiag, a member of the be-medalled University of the Cordilleras wushu xanda squad scored a rear naked choke against University of Baguio wushu Kevin Yonga-an in their first round encounter of the amateur MMA event.
“In terms of skills, they have it and I think these future MMA fighters need more exposure for them to develop further,” said Eduard Folayang, an MMA champion himself of the famed Team Lakay.
Joining Bantiag in the winner’s circle of the Team Lakay elimination event backed by Colt 45 were Denver Dingcawat of Shape Right Gym winning via stoppage against Contender Gym’s Jack Suldayan and Dave Galera of Lakay Central gym also earned a stoppage victory against Guzman Piayas of UB wushu.
Tristan Rebucayo, meanwhile, powered his way against Chrysler Ekid of the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College by way of a referee stoppage contest in the event also supported by the Province of Benguet, Municipality of La Trinidad, 50’s Diner, Café Will and Hayabusa Philippines.
Lakay Central Gym’s Jone Lapicto also won a rear naked choke victory against Forilan Chopchopen of UB Wushu in the opening round.
Topbilling the wushu xanda event, Benito proved too skilful against Rolly Beswilan of the Cordillera Career Development College with a vicious knockout in the second round of the event also supported by I FM, Magic 99.9, DZWT 540, Rianella Printing Press and Orange Segment.
Benito, a bronze medallist in the third World Junior Wushu Championships in Singapore last year, used his vast experience against the upcoming Beswilan to earn a second round stoppage in the event also supported by Faith Store House Studio, Capan’s Music Studio and Band Instruments, EMS Baguio, Overdrive Band and Olympia Gym.
Rex Wao of Benguet State University Muay Boran slugged it out in three rounds to earn a unanimous victory against Jean Claude Saclag of Lakay UC Wushu that earned them the fight of the night honors.
MPSPC’s Constantine Chumacog wins over Joshua Pacio of Lakay San Fernando via a split decision, while Biondi Dayangadang of Shape Right Gym won over Norman Pacase of CCDC via a unanimous decision.
Dawn Max Takayeng of MPSPC scored a technical knockout win over Edray Buking of Contender Gym, while Efren Marinias of Vitalite decided over Gringo Navarro of BSU Muay Boran as Jhaymie Gayman of Lakay UC wushu barely escapes Enrile Amangao of Kalinga via a decision.
Lito Adiwang of the UB wushu, meanwhile, wins via a stoppage over Ryan Capan of Lakay San Fernando Gym.
