Panagbenga run hits road Sunday

BAGUIO’S top distance runners get their hands full anew as the 2012 Panagbenga 25-kilometer run fires on February 12 at the Burnham Park Lake Drive.
Prizes and surprises await the top ten finishers in the race, as part of the month-long Flower Festival celebration in the Summer Capital, with three other race distances for other foot-racers are featured in the 12, 7, and 3K distances.

The top three in each distance are set to receive cash prizes including medals, while the top ten finishers in the 25K race will receive cash prizes from the organizers that will have the starting gun at 5 a.m.
The route for the 25K will start at the Lake drive onwards Kisad, Military Cut-off, Loakan Road, Texas Instruments, back to South Drive, Romulo Drive, Mansion Lake, Villamor Drive then back to Burnham via Illusorio Road, South Drive.
There will also be a masters champion for the 40 and above racers in the event backed by Vegetarian Health Club Association, Outdoor Kinetix, Pocari Sweat, and Cool City Running which will be giving away loot bags for all the finishers in all the races.
Other races for the month of February include the Night Run on February 18 at Camp John hay with 3, 5 and 10K distances organized by IHG which will give out prizes and medals for top finishers.
Two-foot races will also see action in March staring on the fourth for the 12K Burnham lake Drive to Mt. Cabuyao run organized by Cool City Running and Councilor Nick Aliping for the benefit of the Divine Mercy Church in Tuba, Benguet.
Registration for all the foot races is now ongoing at the Laperal building.
The Baguio Emergency Medical Services will also have a fun run on March 11, dubbed “BCEMS RUN FOR LIFE” as part of the annual anniversary of the group.
Proceeds of run will go to the medical mission at Ligay, Tabaan, and Piminggan, in the municipality of Tuba and procurement of equipment of the group. (Roderick Osis)
