1st Baguio full marathon list-up extended

WITH MORE runners expected to join the First Baguio City Marathon firing off on June 2, registration was extended until today, May 21.

Registration was closed May 15 but organizers extended the sign-up on condition that every runner will only be able to get their event shirts on May 30 onwards from Baguio Country Mart with sizes on a first come, first served basis.

SAINT Louis University (SLU)-Laboratory High School (LHS) needed only 10 minutes to finish off University of the Cordilleras High School (UCHS) to keep its hope alive of a possible semis berth in the 16 and under division of the ongoing Miners Cup 4 at the BCNHS Auditorium.

The SLU-LHS team B overcame a two point deficit at the close of the opening canto before erupting for 12 points allowing UCHS to only one point in the first five minutes of the second period. It was all it needed to score a 90-61 victory.

AFTER being caught with a right straight that sent him down the canvass, LUZPROBA super bantamweight Rex Wa-o turned the tide and earns a second round stoppage of compatriot Danilo Gabisa in their 10-round encounter.

A vicious right sent Wa-o to the canvass halfway in the first round but that did not stop Wa-o from becoming the aggressor of the fight as he pushed Gabisa to the corner and landed several blows that prompted the referee to stop the bout in the second round with 1:47 remaining and win the WBC Asia Super bantamweight belt at the La Trinidad gym.

Galera racks up 5th win with interim bantam title

DAVE Galera needed three rounds but nonetheless stopped his opponent to annex the interim bantamweight crown in the Colt 45 – Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) recently at the SMX Convention Center.

Galera, a member of the country’s top mix martial arts (MMA) team Team Lakay, started slow in the first round but simply dominated DEFTAC’s Red Romero that was stopped by the referee in 3:43 of the third round with heavy blows during their ground battle.
