Ultra marathon revisits Kennon-Marcos highways

A KILLER 80-kilometer foot race is set to pass the Summer Capital for the first Marcos-Kennon 50-mile Ultra Road Classic seen to fire off July 14.
It will be the first official ultra marathon road race that traces the route from Rosario, La Union via the Marcos Highway to Baguio City and then go back to the starting area via Kennon Road, covering a distance of 50 miles or 80 kilometers.
The race starts and will also finish at the Municipal Plaza of Rosario, La Union with assembly time at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14. The race will start at 3 p.m.
Registration is now ongoing at the ARC Manila c/o Perkins Briones and/or deposit registration fee at BPI Savings Account #0296-0673-22 in the name of Jovenal Narcise.
If payment will be made through BPI account, runners should send the scanned copy of the deposit slip to jovie75@hotmail.com and bring it to the starting area on race day.
Registration fee is P2,000. The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
To cater to the ultra-runners coming from the north and nearby provinces, organizers will allow onsite registration provided that each participant arrives at the assembly area earlier than the stated assembly time.
There will be no cash prizes but podium finishers or the top three for both men and women will receive trophies, while each finisher will receive Special Commemorative Finisher’s Medal and Finisher’s T-Shirt. (Roderick Osis)
