PAST CHIEFS Rhey Bautista, Rae David, and Rocky Ruñez of Team Red struck gold Sunday as they opened the 2nd Apache Sports Fest Sunday at the Baguio Country Club recreations center with flying colors.
Red beat team Black in bowling by hammering a 659-554 win even as the Bakers Team fell by one pin in the other bowling event after the Bakers squad was not fortunate and fell by one to the Black group of past chiefs Arnel Delenela, Art Bueno and Sonny San Pedro.
Angel Villaralvo then combined with the young Jarvey de Leon as they beat Pigeon Lobien and physician Ed Montenegro, 2-0, and won two more for a perfect 3-0 score in billiards, one of the two events played this month.
The second team of Taggy Tagudar and Reyes halved their two games as the team compiled a 4-1 slate in the four team competition open to all Braves (members).
Yellow meanwhile had three wins against two defeats, while Black had a 2-3 slate to stay at third spot, while Green had a single victory against three defeats to stay at fourth spot.
Green, however, had 170 pinfalls from past chief Nap Maranan to beat Yellow in the other game. However, it lost to Yellow in the Bakers side, also by the hairline.
Close to 50 Braves joined Sunday's openers, many joined the motorcade that started at Nevada Square to Session Road and to the venue.
Games in bowling and billiards will be played this month, even as darts and table tennis are scheduled next month also at the BCC Recreations Center.
The competition focused on team play compared to the first when it was individual play and only two events, darts and billiards won by Lobien and Wayne Seo-as of Red team, respectively.
