UC High demolishes SLU-LES

JULIMAR Ladia scored a probable career game high of 57 points to lead the University of the Cordilleras High School team C in toppling Saint Louis University Laboratory High School Team A, 144-53, in the ongoing 2nd YMCA Cup Invitational Basketball Tournament.
Just when rains continued to lash the Summer Capital, Ladia conspired with Renzae Cosme and Aaron Villalon to rout the Navy Base squad after a 2-2 count in the first quarter before finishing the opening canto with a 28-8 advantage.
Things then turned rosy for the Campo Filipino-based high school, as Ladia led the onslaught anew connecting four treys in the second quarter to enjoy a 48 point edge and enjoy a 70-18 bubble at halftime.
Cosme and Villalon then finished with 20 and 13 points each in the ball game where they had their biggest lead at 68, 100-32, right at the end of the third period.
The Navy base dribblers were led by Phyllyp Arce who had 14 points.
Earlier, SLU-LHS Team C pummeled UCHS team C with a 134-34 rout also in the high school division of the tournament in cooperation with the Department of Education Baguio organized by YMCA Baguio of the tournament participated by 11 elementary and 24 teams from the high school division
Some 20 teams are also participating in the corporate/senior level of the more than three months basketball tournament as part of YMCA’s trust in enhancing its programs for youth development mandated by its mission in building young leaders and communities.
The tournament also aims to reach out to the community and engage people who seek the well-being of spirit, mind, and body; enhance fellowship and camaraderie among the participants; and provide a venue where local basketball enthusiasts can have the opportunity to participate and enhance their skills in basketball.
Four SLU high schoolers scored in double digit with Michael Lacambra with his game high 20 points with Andrew Pangilinan chipping in 14 points each.
Alvin Jay Cara and Timothy Francisco also came up with 14 each for the Navy Base-based hoopsters.
Baguio City National High School team A also scored a win over sister squad BCNHS team C, 77-61, to join UC-A and SLU-LHS team C in the Saturday match–up at the YMCA gym.
Kreig Del Mundo had a game high of 22 points to lead all scored for BCNHS Team A’s win, while Karlo Gonzaga chipped in 11 markers.
