SLU, City High stake unbeaten run in Y Cup

SAINT Louis University Laboratory High School team C and Baguio City National High School–A stake their unbeaten record as games in the 2nd YMCA Cup Invitational Basketball Tournament resume this weekend.
Unbeaten after two games, both squads try to grab a share of the lead as they square off in the 9:30 opening game at the YMCA gym to be followed by the SLU-LHS A and University of the Cordilleras High School C.
Michael Lacambra, Andrew Pangilinan, Alvin Jay Cara and Timothy Francisco are expected to carry scoring load for SLU team C, while Kreig Del Mundo and Karlo Gonzaga are seen to lead City High’s cause after their double digit performance the last time out.
SLU A and UC-C will seek their first victory in the tournament after faltering in their first two games of the tournament supported by the Department of Education Baguio schools division.
Berkeley A and BCNHS C will also try to punch a win with an identical 0-2 win loss slate of the event aimed to reach out to the community and engage people who seek the wellbeing of spirit, mind, and body; enhance fellowship and camaraderie among the participants.
In the elementary division, Tabora Elem. School and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Montessori seek their first win of the tournament after faltering against Don Bosco and Small World Christian Foundation.
Some 20 teams are also participating in the corporate/senior level of the more than three months basketball tournament as part of YMCA’s trust in enhancing its programs for youth development mandated by its mission in building young leaders and communities.
Contracting service provider GWE, meanwhile, stays unbeaten in bracket A of the Corporate division with a clean 3-0 slate while Porta Vaga B tops bracket B with four victories in as many games as BCNHS Faculty is also on a romp with a 3-0 slate in Bracket C.
The tournament also aims also provide a venue where local basketball enthusiasts can have the opportunity to participate and enhance their skills in basketball. (Roderick Osis)
