Lakays get shot at One FC titles-A A +A

FOLLOWING their impressive victories the last time out, three Baguio mix martial arts fighter get a rare crack at the title for the next One Fighting Championship (FC) event slated in Singapore next month.
Astounded by their recent victories, One FC chief executive Victor Cui announced Eduard Folayang, Eric Kelly and Honorio Banario will get chance of being in the undercard of the next event dubbed “Rise of Kings” in Singapore on October 6.
“Everybody knows that Filipino fighters are some of the best in Asia right now and they came to deliver and they deserve to be in the title fight,” said Cui after the One FC event held last August 31 at the SmartAraneta Coliseum.
Team Lakay’s Eduard Folayang showed why he still remains as one of Asia’s best lightweight fighter after scoring a third round unanimous victory over Felipe Enomoto of Japan.
The Malaysian-based Eric Kelly had the biggest win of the night for the Baguio boys after demolishing former UFC champion Jens Pulver in knocking the mix martial arts legend in the second round that finished the fight early.
Fellow Team Lakay Honorio Banario opened the campaign for the Baguio bred fighters with a three-round knockout of another Filipino featherweight Andrew Benibe with his flurry of punches and kicks.
Folayang is reported to be fighting Zorobabel Moreira, who is also a huge fan favorite, especially in Singapore, where he trains out of Evolve MMA who defeated Roger Huerta via TKO at ONE FC: Destiny of Warriors.
Banario and Kelly will be squaring off in the One FC event for the feather weight crown.
The One FC event will take place live and return to the Singapore Indoor Stadium with three title belts at stake, including the Super Fight between Dream Lightweight Champion Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki and French MMA Champion Arnaud Lepont.
