UNIVERSITY of the Cordilleras and Saint Louis University scored separate victories Saturday to arrange a titular showdown in women’s volleyball of the Baguio-Benguet Educational Athletic League season 26.

Top seed UC Lady Jaguars easily disposed fourth seeded Cordillera Career Development College Lady Admirals in three sets, 25-18, 25-18, 25-16 and return to the finals after ruling the event from 2005 to 2010.

“Masaya kami kasi naka balik ulit kami sa finals although yung level of confidence ng mga bata eh nasa 8 out of 10 pa,” said the second year coach Ysang Tolentino.

UC’s win over the Lady Admirals was a repeat of sorts for the Lady Jaguars who won in three sets during the eliminations round but Tolentino needs to shake off the jitters of her players when they see action anew in the finals.

“Malaki ang pressure ngayon kumpara nung player ako kasi mataas na standard ang iniwan namin nung mag champion kami kaya lesson learned din yung nangyari sa amin last year,” added Tolentino, who was also part of the five championships in the Lady Jaguars six peat run.

And the pressure is definitely on for the Lady Jaguars as the SLU Lady Navigators disposed defending champion University of Baguio Lady Cardinals in five grueling sets, 19-25, 25-16, 25-19, 22-25, 15-9 to clinch the last finals seat.

The Lady Navigators defeated UC during the eliminations round, also in five sets.

It will be the fourth finals appearance for the Lady Navigators itching to get off a ten year title drought since winning the crown in 2001.

“Happy kami sa naging result ng game at the same time yung pusong pinakita ng mga bata eh talagang iba kumpara sa mga ibang game namin,” said coach Gerald Peralta.

The win over the Lady Cardinals by the Lady Navigators was a revenge of sorts for SLU who lost in five sets during the eliminations round, 22-25, 22-25, 29-27, 25-21, 15-11 also at the CCDC gym.

“Hats off ako sa mga players ko lalo na sa team captain nilang si Jen Biaes, lalo na sa mga rookies na si Elaine Daniel at Colleen Rossi,” added Peralta.

Meanwhile, in the men’s side, top seeded CCDC Admirals earned its first finals appearance after dispatching the UB Cardinals while third seeded SLU Navigators needed to win twice over second seeded UC Jaguars to advance in the finals.
