Only local runners allowed in Smart charity run

REGISTRATION for the half marathon Smart Baguio Run for a Cause went full blast Monday, October 1, as rules for the upcoming foot race has limited the participation of runners to local running enthusiasts.
Members of the national running team, including foreign elite runners, are not allowed to join the run for a cause which fires off at 5:30 a.m. of October 7 being arranged by the City Government and the Gray Area Solutions Inc.
A whopping P10,000 in cash prize, plus a trophy awaits the top winner of the 21-kilometer foot race of the event, which is aimed to the benefit of the programs and projects of the Cordillera Region Rehabilitation Center for the Youth (CRRCY), the Baguio Combative Sports Group and the Alay Sa Kalinisan.
The second placer in the half marathon gets P7,500, while the third placer gets P5,000.
Winner in the 10km race will receive P7,000, while P4,000 and P3,000 will be awarded to second and third placers, respectively. The 5km run will give away P5,000, P3,000 and P2,000 for the first, second and third placers, respectively.
The top three finishers of the 12 and under category of the 3km fun run will receive cash prizes ranging from P500, P1,000 and P1,500 for the boys and girls divisions while the top three finishers in the 13 and above category will be receiving corresponding gift certificates.
Fourth to 10th placers in all divisions will be given the appropriate medals while all finishers will receive certificates from the organizers and their supporters.
The first 1,000 registrants will be given singlets by the organizers. The registration will be until noon of October 6. Registration fees for the different categories are 21km, P500; 10km, P400; 5km, P300; and 3km, P250 for both 12 years old and under and 13 years old and above.
Registration forms are now available at the City Administrator’s Office, Baguio Tourism Information Center located along Lake Drive, Burnham Park, Baguio Swimming Pool area c/o of Lawrence Daguio, Laperal Building entrance gate and at the Baguio City National High School (BCNHS) administrative division.
