SLU sets sail for UniGames

FRESH from winning both the men’s and women’s volleyball crown in the 2012 season of the Baguio–Benguet Educational Athletic League, Saint Louis University (SLU) sets its eye on the upcoming Philippine University Games.
With University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City hosting the largest collegiate event in the country, the games are set October 22-28 featuring 12 sports disciplines that include athletics, badminton, basketball, chess, football, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball and beach volleyball.
SLU Navigators athletic director Henry Fuentes said they will compete in volleyball, women’s basketball, table tennis, badminton, taekwondo and chess.
“Will be sending some 64 athletes,” said Fuentes.
Now on its 17th year, the UniGames enjoys the participation of more than 50 colleges and universities in the country.
The UniGames is the only national collegiate sports competition that started 1996 in USLS Bacolod City, gathering together the finest varsity athletes from private and government universities from all over the country in the spirit of fair play, friendship and top-caliber competition.
