BAGUIO race car drivers Carlos Anton and Alfie Concepcion held their own against other drivers and topped recently concluded 0-400 Time Attack Event held at the Clark International Speedway.
Using his reliable 215 horsepower Hornitex-CRX, Anton topped the two special stages in the open class division while Concepcion on a Special Stage prepared Honda EG beat Cabanatuan’s Jerwin Joson and Moses Dumaguing from Baguio in the 2 Wheel drive division.
“I’d like to dedicate my win to my tito Johnnie Dimalanta, a Knight of the Pontifical Order, who passed away recently,” said Yokohama – Castrol Championship driver Anton.
“He was one of my biggest supporters in Baguio City, always sending me clippings and personal notes congratulating me on my wins all since the 90s, I will truly miss him,” an emotional Anton added after the race.
Concepcion, who is a Group 4 Hillclimb Champion, made the jump to the circuit track with minimal adjustments and fared well on the high speed track. Luis Buencamino driving a Subaru won the 4WD class over Chris Lewis of Australia.
Mark Young and Jason Young, who own the Racing team Anton drives for also showed their prowess in the Drag Race event using an 800 horsepower Nissan GTR.
Jason won the Super Pro class clocking 10.5 seconds over the quarter mile, while older brother Mark won the Sports Car class clocking 10.7 seconds.
Anton also won the last round of the Circuit Showdown event last October 6, by clocking a blistering 2 min 5.248 seconds using the GTR hitting top speeds of over 250 KPH down the main straights of the 4.2 kilometer track.
