More races slated for running enthusiasts

SEVERAL foot races here in the Summer Capital usher in the holiday season as five events are lined up for the last two months of the year.
Cash and medals will be at stake as the Children’s International Summer Village–Baguio Chapter holds its first fun run on November 4.
Registration formally started October 26 and will end November 3 for the 3 kilometer (3K) 10-12 years old and 13 and above category and the 10-kilometer open division that will kick off at 5:30 a.m. at the Burnham Park Lake Drive.
Dr. Brenda Villanueva of CISV-Baguio said the fun run will be a fund-raising of sorts for the organization’s various community projects in Baguio City.
CISV is a global community of dedicated volunteers, creating opportunities for all ages to experience the excitement and enrichment of cultural diversity through our educational programmes founded on belief that peace is possible through friendship and that the real difference can be made by starting with children.
The SLU Hospital Run for a Cause will fire off November 11 for the hospital’s surgery department medical missions and related medical projects with three race distances which will be giving away cash prices and medals for the top three finishers.
Events on tap are the 3, 5 and the 16 kilometer foot race which starts at 5:00 in the morning with the top ten finishers to be given medals, and citations for the medical students and dental groups who will be participating.
Flagging of also on November is the first Baguio Beer Mile Run which starts at South Drive at 9:00 in the morning which will serve beer for every 200 meters with free registrations.
On November 30, the run for a wall will also kick off for the perimeter wall of the Doña Nicasia Elementary School spearhead by the school’s Parent Teachers Association featuring the 3 kilometer for adult and kiddie and the 5 kilometer run.
Race starts at 5:00 in the morning which will fire off and finish at the Burnham Lake Drive. The race will give away trophies for the top three finishers and medals for the 6th to 10th finishers.
Registration fee for the 3k kids is P40 while the 3k and 5k race will have P50.
Lastly, the SLU run for Hope 3 will kick off December 1 as an opening salvo for the school’s centennial celebration with 3, 5, and 10 kilometer race distances with trophies to be given for the top three finishers.
