REIGNING Philippine Boxing Federation featherweight champion Alvin Rey Tam steps up to the plate as next month as he eyes a crack at the WBC Continental Championship against a knock-out artist from Mindanao.
Winner of eight in his last 10 fights, the Kapangan, Benguet native Tam stakes his 12 wins and three loss record against the knock-out artist JR Edurot of General Santos City which is slated on December 22 at La Trinidad Municipal gym.
Tam wrested the vacant Philippines Boxing Federation (PBF) featherweight title by knocking out Jayvee Alipio last February 18 in six round of their scheduled 10 round encounter at the La Trinidad, municipal Gym.
“This is going to be an interesting match –up kasi si Tam eh technical fighter samantalang si Edurot, eh, knock out artist,” said boxing manager Brico Santig of the La Trinidad Highland Boxing gym.
Edurot won 8 of his nine victories via knock out and has only lost once against Alvin Makiling via technical knockout in the 8th round of their 12-round encounter last September 24, 2011.
“The boxing match is a pre-Christmas show presented by Mayor Greg Abalos and Camp John Hay Manor’s Jay Sobrepeña,” added Santig.
Aside from the title match, exciting under card will also be included in the fight card of the evening featuring undefeated knock out artist Rex Wa-o, winning three of his four fights via knock out, against Edison Berwela, owner of 11 wins, 22 loss, and six draws.
Up and coming boxer Stephen Gelawa will also stake his unbeaten 3-0 record against Paul Apolinario who holds a record of 10 wins, 11 losses, and two draws.
