WHILE training camp for Team Lakay goes full blast, Rey Docyogen’s fight in the upcoming One Fighting Championship event faces uncertainty after a national daily reported URCC cannot just allow any of their fighters to just fight for the sake of money and short-lived fame.

The report cited Alvin Aguilar saying “it’s all about One FC’s early press releases but no worry One FC President Victor Cui is my friend. But I’m just protecting the reputation and condition of my fighters.”

Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao however said he is unfazed by the reports and in fact said their training camp flows smoothly despite the possible glitch.

“We will fix it with URCC. In fact we don’t have any problem in terms of contract with the URCC,” said Sangiao, a multi medaled wushu athlete and a former URCC champion himself.

However, Sangiao hopes the temporary setback would not affect the unbeaten Docgyogen’s training who has been working alongside with another URCC champion Honorio Banario who will be battling fellow Filipino, now Malaysian base Eric Kelly for the featherweight crown in One FC.

“I see a little distraction in one of our training. But what we are doing is that we are trying to motivate him. I hope it would do good for Rey,” quipped Sangiao.

Docyogen will face Japanese veteran Shinichi Kojima, a former Shooto World Champion and was ranked as the number one flyweight in the world.

But even with the distraction, Sangiao said both Docyogen and Banario is currently 80 percent in terms of conditioning and their training regimen will level up next week to reach the peak of their conditioning prior to fight night.

ONE FC: ‘Return of Warriors’ features ten fights with top Malaysian fighters Adam Kayoom, Melvin Yeoh and Peter Davis all in action as well as Lowen Tynanes, who is best known for a recent win over the Philippines very own Eduard Folayang.

The event will also see the launch of the Malaysian National Featherweight Championship Tournament. Four of the top Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) prospects in Malaysia will battle it out in the first round of the tournament.
