Scrabble tilt sees action in BFF

SOME P26,000 in cash prizes are set to be given away for the 11th staging of the Panagbenga Open Scrabble Tournament at the Baguio-Mountain Provinces Museum.
Slated March 2 to 3, the tournament is expected to draw players from La Union, Batangas, Manila, Cebu, Pangasinan and Baguio.
The tournament will be an eight round, straight King of the Hill, with registration fee at P650 which includes two snacks each day.
Presented by the Baguio Benguet Word Builders Club, the tournament will follow the WESPA rules and use the Collins Scrabble Word list and the Zyzzyva program as word judge.
Champion in the Open division gets P10,000 in cash prize while the second placer brings home P6,000 with the third and fourth placers receiving P4,000 and P2,000, respectively.
The fourth placer in the tournaments gets P1,000 in cash prize while the last placer brings home a sausage.
There will also be a first time/students division with the winner brining home P1,500 in cash prizes while the 2nd and 3rd placer gets P1,000 and P500 each.
Another P500 in cash prize will also be given to the player who will have the highest bingo and highest score in the most appropriate Panagbenga word.
