8th annual JVOFI golf for a cause tees off

HUNDREDS are once again seen to hit the green this weekend for the eighth staging of the annual Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation Inc. Golf for a Cause at the Baguio Country Club fairways.
Four divisions will see action in the one day tournament slated January 26, including the men, ladies, senior and juniors with different handicap classes and the inclusion of team play for this year’s event.
Registration is now ongoing with team ticket at P6,000 for four players while individual ticket is at P1,700, inclusive of green fee, dinner and a chance to win fabulous prizes.
Golfers will also have a chance to win a car for hole in one at hole number 10 of the par 61 BCC golf course, which is also home to the annual Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament.
The event is also in cooperation with Laus Group and Haima Cars that will give out the prize in the hole in one.
Held annually since 2005, JVOFI in partnership with Texas Instruments, Phils. and Baguio Country Club undertakes the Golf-for-a-Cause for enterprising poor women in Baguio and Benguet of the event backed by Team Energy, CCT -TOYO consortium, DMCI Minign Corporation, Test Solution Services, Pacsports, Taikisha Philippines and PLDT.
The women are engaged in vending, carving and handicrafts which add at least P500 monthly to their husbands' unstable incomes and help support their families meet their basic needs.
The additional income they gain from their small businesses supports their children's education of the event backed by Embrace, Benguet Corp., Philex Mining Corp., Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company, Phil Airlines, Linde Group, Cross Link Electric Corporation, La Trinidad Mayor Greg Abalos, Ingasco Inc., and Air Tech Systems Construction.
