It’s newbies vs veterans in URCC Baguio

A MIX of veterans and upcoming fighters heat things up as the Colt 45 Universal Reality Combat Championship brings another slambang action in this part of the country.

Unbeaten in three fights, Egly Diaz stakes his clean sheet as he headlines the country’s first mix martial arts (MMA) promotion set on March 2 at the Baguio Convention Center for its fifth offering in the Summer Capital.

Diaz will square off against veteran Will Chope with 14 wins and five losses in the featherweight division.

The co-main event will be a battle between Team Lakay’s Roldan Sangcha-an, undefeated in two bouts, and Renan Ramos of Ground & Pound MMA.

Robert Buminang of Highlands Gym will be up against Florian Garel of Taiwan Top Team in the lightweight division while Lito Adiwang of Tribal Submission will face Fernando Venus in the pinweight.

Dave “The Scarecrow” Galera of Team Lakay who is undefeated in three MMA professional fights will test his superb ground skills against Keiff Mangusan of Tribal Submission.

Team Torogi will fielding a fighter with extensive kickboxing background in Edmund Velasco who will be up against Alexandro Anas, also of Highland Gym, which is home to world-class boxers.

Also in the fight cards are Jonathan Corton of Team Lakay against Franklin Donglay of Team Torogi while Stephen Luman also of Team Lakay will face Alvin Velasco of Team Torogi.

Tribal Submission’s Kevin Yongaan will face Jay Olod of Team Torogi while the flyweight division will be a battle between Tristan Rebuyaco of Team Lakay and Armando Velasco of Submission Sports. (Roderick Osis)
