TWO DIVISIONS are set to greet football enthusiasts featuring G-string clad booters as the second, one-of-a kind Goshen Land G-String Football Cup kicks off on March 9 at the Melvin Jones and Athletic Bowl football fields.

The one day tournament will see players from 5 years old to seniors slug it out in two football fields simultaneously.

The event is co-sponsored by the City Mayor’s Office and will also have a regular division.

Three categories will be played in the G-String Division which includes the elementary, high school and open in a 7-a-side play.

The regular division will see the 5 aside 7-under and 9-under, the 11-under,13-under,15-under and ladies open which is a seven a side game while the men’s open in the regular division will be played in an eleven –a-side set-up.

Various local teams and teams from outside of the city are expected to participate in the tournament.

Five hundred fifty five players and 84 teams joined the first G-String tournament two years ago which was played during a rainy July that saw players splashing, diving, tackling and sliding in the muddy Melvin Jones football field.

The tournament was unprecedented anywhere else in the world which made it a natural local tourism booster for the Baguio community.

Registration for this year’s Goshen Land G-String Tournament is ongoing. G-string division teams are required to bring their own G-Strings, upper football jerseys, shin guards, tube socks and football shoes.

Regular division teams are also required to come in their complete football gears.

For the 7-under to 15-under categories, coaches are required to submit certified, photocopied copies of the birth certificates of their official list of players.  Last day of registration is on March 5.

Registration is now ongoing at the Goshen Land Caring Hands Office at 35A Montinola Subdivision, Kisad Road, Baguio or contact 09276420356 or email cgfc2012 @gmail.com.
