TWO Baguio upstarts in motocross recently made another mark in the sporting world after finishing first and second in their division at the close of the 2013 Enersel Forte and Enersel C Philippine National Motocross Series in Bacoor, Cavite.
Ten-year-old Mia Villalon and seven-year-old Jay Paul Samuel Wayet made the Junior 50cc division as it narrows down the competition for young riders all over the country with more than 200 riders competing last weekend in Molino, Cavite during the 1st leg of the Philippine National Motocross Series, watched by thousands of eager audience.
Wayet was the youngest rider among the participants in the Junior 50cc division.
Despite the lack of a practice track for motocross here in the city, the dup managed to finish first and second where they drew support from Bike Mart Trancoville, Bike Solutionz in Km. 4 La Trinidad, Benguet and Top Rigid Industrial Sales.
“Maganda yung naging performance ng mga bata lalo na't nationals yung competition. Karamihan ng mga nakalaro nila eh galing sa National Capital Region na maraming practice tracks di katulad sa atin," said Samuel’s father, Jason.
Another Baguio rider was supposed to finish the podium but after his bike malfunction, 17-year-old Kurt Amdengan did not finish who was competing in the Novice Production Category 250cc.
Amdengan is a sepak takraw varsity player from Saint Louis University where he is a first year engineering student.
The various winners and champions in the different categories include Glenn Aguilar (Pro Open), Noynoy Rellosa (Expert), Mclean Aguilar (Intermediate) Tj Alberto (Novice Prod), AJ Tambuyat (First timer), Jay Lacnit (Executive Lites), and Roman Llorente (Executive A).
