One of the highlights for this year’s summer frolics is the revival of the cultural dance course introduced to the program by past board members Councilor Filian Weygan-Allan and Ramon Dacawi to create cultural awareness among the youth which is scheduled every Saturday at 3 p.m.–4 p.m.

Registration fee for the individual programs is pegged at P700 per student which includes YMCA membership for a year and instructors fees.

Meanwhile, enrollment for the YMCA Pre-School Summer Reading Program is ongoing for children 3-6 years old, for reading readiness in the early stages of learning. The program courses primarily will provide readiness activities such as neuro-mascular coordination, visual and auditory discrimination, cognitive and psychomotor skills development and creativity.

The children enrollees will be divided into four categories with the specific detailed program to cater to the need of each particular group namely;

A. Beginners – those with zero schooling background and about to enter the Kindergarten 1 level for the incoming school year.

B. Entering Kinder 1 – those who have gone through Nursery and are about to enter Kindergarten 1 level for the incoming school year.

C. Entering Kinder 2 – those who have attended Kindergarten 1 and are about to enter Kindergarten 2 for the incoming school year.

D. Entering Grade 1 – those who have finished the preparatory program and are about to enter the formal education level.

Two faculty members are assigned to each category of learners. Classes for the summer reading readiness will start on April 15 and runs through May 15.

Classes are scheduled from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m.– 10 a.m. Registration fee is P3,010 per student.

Reservations for the school year 2013 for the YMCA Pre-School are also ongoing. Enrollment starts on May 20. For more info contact Dr. Imelda Runas (directress) at tel. no. 446-5568 or YMCA office at 442-4766. (Bobby Vinluan)
