MOTIVATION to exercise depends on choices based on the individual’s perception, where the chances of success is internalized and of what value of that success is to the individual’s well-being.

The relationship between the program of activity and goal achievement are uncertain and could lead to the reduced commitment of an individual to exercise, they usually find excuses not to exercise. Thus, individuals must evaluate themselves before starting an exercise program.

Self evaluation must be done in accordance to their present status; by asking themselves their chances of increasing overall physical fitness and what changes will be brought about by indulging themselves in exercise activities. After evaluating yourself, it is important to establish your personal exercise program goals.

In doing so you can observe and measure your progress by focusing on your lifestyle and convincing yourself that you can be capable of initiating an exercise program in the process toward your desired goal. Self-assessment on the other hand will also help the individual to know and identify fitness practices and behaviors either beneficial or unfavorable to them.

Setting exercise goals does not only help the individual’s physical fitness but also provides them with psychological and social benefits to help them target areas that need change. Accepting the goals of health-related fitness and being aware of how they relate to your self-concept will help in your quest for change and enhance your eagerness to exercise.

By optimistically challenging yourself into exercising, you challenge yourself by making decisions setting your own rules and standards, such experience will then help you do away with your worries of failing because you compete only with yourself.

You’ll find that indulging in exercise gives you the chance to express yourself because it provides one of the few opportunities for emotional release and free expression. It also will help you do away with destructive self- criticisms because you will definitely receive social recognition because of your improving self-image.

While you are reshaping your body, you also get them to improve your cardiorespiratory endurance and increase your feeling of health and energy to help you achieve your personal goals to give you the needed self-confidence and get a clear focus on your life that brings satisfaction.

You will see results of your efforts, remember no one fails when they exercise, but, don’t expect that changes comes that quick in a few days. Be patient and the outcome will be positive. Then and there you’ll know that you are benefitted by setting your exercise goals.
