Baguio hosts Milo Little Olympics-A A +A

THE Luzon regional eliminations for the 2013 Milo Little Olympics is set on September 6, 7 and 8 in Baguio City’s athletic bowl coinciding with the 104th founding anniversary of the country’s "Summer Capital."
Qualifying elementary and high school students who won in recent local small town tournaments and inter-school leagues coming from regions 1,2,3 and the Cordillera will pit their talents in eleven sports disciplines.
Milo Little Olympics representative Tess Bernardino said among the sporting disciplines are athletics, badminton, chess, football, gymnastics, lawn tennis, sepak-takraw, swimming, table tennis, teakwando and volleyball.
Winners in the Luzon cluster will represent northern Luzon area in the national finals to be held in Cebu City on October 25, 26 and 27, 2013.
Milo's little league started in 1988 with the goal of giving the children the opportunity to show their excellence, drive, determination, and discipline in the field of sports, and as a venue for them to be part of the premiere nationwide junior inter-school league for elementary and high school student athletes.
Athletes who came from Milo’s Little Olympics have graduated to represent the country in the South East Asian Games, World Youth Cup and the Asian Junior Track meet.
Meanwhile, a photo contest for journalists is set to be done during the said event with all their published photos to be submitted to the secretariat on September 16, 2013, the date for the deadline.
All published photos that have seen print on both national and local publications from September 9 to 15, 2013 qualify for the said event with the corresponding prizes of 15,000 for the first prize, 10,000 for the second, and 6,000 for third that will equally be divided with the publications editor.
All photo entries to be submitted must be printed on a 5’R photo print and submitted to the secretariat. On-line publications does not qualify for this photo contest. (PR)
