Judokas get refreshers course on new rules-A A +A

THE University of the Cordilleras recently hosted a seminar on International Judo Federation (IJF) new rules, sponsored by the UC Judo Club in cooperation with the Cordillera Judo Association (CJA) at the UC PE Building.
In time for the upcoming conduct of the BBEAL- Judo Competition, the seminar introduced changes in the Judo sports rules as a result of its experimentation from the Paris Grand Slam 2013 and the Rio World Judo Championship, after which the IJF after thorough discussion have formulated the final version of the rules which will be implemented on the 2016 Rio De Jenerio Olympic Games.
Aimed to update and refresh CJA Referees, coaches, and athletes, the tournament was facilitated by Corazon Alhido, UC Judo Coach, CJA Director for Officiating, national referee and national judo player. The seminar was also graced by Roldan Ta-a, Head of the Language and Communication Department and Professor at the UC Graduate School.
The Seminar was also attended by the Philippine Military Academy Judo Corps Squad, CCDC Judo Club, UC Judo Club, Saint Louis Judo Club, University of Baguio Judo Club, YMCA-KAITAGI Judo Club, and the CJA Officers and Board of Directors.
Meanwhile, CJA General Secretary, Bobby Vinluan announced the official conduct of the Jerry Diño – Charles Soliba Memorial Judo Tournament in memory of the departed judokas of the Baguio City and the Cordillera on September 7 – 8, 2013 which will be held at the Jurado Hall of the Philippine Military Academy.
