Jaguars atop BBEAL basketball rankings-A A +A

DEFENDING champion UC Jaguars simply dominated former two time champion Cordillera Career Development College to continue its romp in men’s basketball of the Baguio–Benguet Educational Athletic League season 27.
With their sixth victory in tow, the Jaguars easily dispatched the Admirals, 90-57, at the CCDC gym Monday afternoon.
But despite the blow out game, Jaguars head coach still believes the team played another sloppy game.
“Hindi masyadong maganda ang game kasi kulang kami sa practice, we did not have any since our last game,” Agacer said.
Both teams played the first quarter pretty even, shooting from both ends of the floor during the five minutes of the game but not until the more experienced Jaguars took the pace scoring fast break points making a six point edge, 20 – 14, at the end of the opening canto.
UC carried their good team efforts to start the second quarter, as CCDC remained hapless in scoring and was outrebounded by the taller Jaguars who enjoyed a 38-30 edge early in the second quarter.
After the halftime break, UC’s John Paul Juralbal, and Albert Pacis of CCDC engaged in a three-point shootout.
But the Jaguars found their way winning the shootout and continued to hold on to the lead at the end of the third canto, 58-49.
From then on, Jularbal waxed hot in the fourth period firing away five more triples to blow the game wide open.
Anticipating another tough showdown with the University of Baguio in their next game, Agacer said the team needs to improve their defence when they face arch rival Cardinals this coming Saturday at the UC gym.
The Cardinals, who fell to UC twice for the championship in men’s basketball is the only unbeaten squad on BBEAl with a clean 5-0 win loss slate. (Mark Victor Pasagoy)
