SLU Lab extends streak YMCA basketball tournament-A A +A

SAINT Louis University Laboratory High School remained unbeaten both in the High School Developmental and Varsity Division of the YMCA Invitational Basketball Tournament as the elimination round came to an end.
SLU-LHS beat University of the Cordilleras High School (UCHS) in the HS Developmental Division in a 91 – 84 victory over the weekend. UCHS started strong as they had a six points lead over SLU in the end of the opening canto.
But SLU strengthened their defense and took over the lead in the first half of the game and ended it with a two point lead over UC, 38 -36 and continued their intensity up until the final buzzer in the pay off period
“It just so happen that the boys are playing well and we just hope that they will maintain it,” said Coach Marlon Pawid of SLU-LHS.
Lyndon Matbagan and Kelly Lugo had 18 and 16 points respectively to lead SLU-LHS to their fifth win in five games while Ram Esteban had a high of 40 points with Mark Cara and Pavamender Cudail chipping in with 12 markers each led UC who suffered their second loss in five games.
In the High School Varsity Division, Saint Louis School Center won over United Basketball Team gaining their sixth win in eight games while UBT fell to their fifth loss in eight games.
Also, Saint Louis Aurora Hill won over a 85 – 39 game against Mary Immaculate School as SLU-LHS beat Berkeley in a 107 – 71 game.
Meanwhile, University of the Cordilleras Grade School had a landslide win over Lucban Elementary School over a 102 – 21 victory at the close of the elimination round of the elementary division.
Later, Baguio Central University – High School (BCUHS) had a landslide win over YMCA Basketball Club in a 78 – 41 victory game. (Jayza Almira Labis/UB Intern)
