SLU edges CCDC, enters finals-A A +A

SAINT Louis University (SLU) pounced on Cordillera Career Development College's listless form to bolster its championship bid in men's volleyball of the Baguio–Benguet Educational Athletic League season 27.
The Navigators extended their winning streak as they exhausted the Admirals, 25-15, 25-17, 25-15, to earn the first finals seat after disposing their rival in last year’s championship that went the full route as Brian Biscocho scored a game high of 10 points to lead SLU.
Navigators head coach Gerald Peralta said the team has done good in their victory with the bench players producing quality minutes.
"Pinapagana kasi namin yung mga players sa bench para sa susunod na laro pwede silang lumabas to rotate with other key players," said Peralta.
"We still anticipate na kung sino man ang makaharap namin sa finals mahihirapan pa rin kami, it would still be a challenge," Peralta added.
The Admirals found little luck in their match-up against the defending champions during the first set but CCDC staged a comeback in the second set to take an early 0 – 3 lead against the Navigators.
SLU regrouped with their offensive adjustment and stole the lead at 5 – 4.
But the Admirals were not easily shaken off and tied the score six times during the set until Biscocho and Mark Lloyd Miguel led a rally during their seven straight point run to seal the deal for SLU.
It was a sorry setback for CCDC, who held of the Navigators early in the third set, only to wilt under pressure in the end game.
Despite their mastery over CCDC, Biscocho said he was happy with the team’s effort.
“Maganda po yung result ng laro, above sa ine-expect namin for this game, although meron mga unforced error at least nagawa naman namin yung mga prinactice as a team,” said Biscocho.
