HUNDREDS of runners and enthusiasts are expected to join the forth coming run for a cause set on October 30 at Camp John Hay firing off at 6 p.m.
Dubbed as “night Run for Ron, fight against cancer,” the vent will be for the benefit of Ron Albert Dating, an eight year old cancer patient who’s currently at the Baguio General Hospital.
Organized by team Malaya Dunamis, the event aims to gather monetary funds, which will help support its benefactor in his fight against his sickness.
Team Malaya Dunamis is a multisport organization, founded on the Word of God, which aims to employ running and other multisport events in reaching out to the underprivileged groups of the City of Baguio and the nation of the Philippines as a whole.
Co-organizer of the event John Balanquit said they target to enlist at least three hundred individuals to join and be able to produce substantial amount to help Ron.
"Siguro nasa three-hundred ang minimum na target for the event but as early as now we are expecting more since maaga nag-start ang campaign," said Balanquit.
The night run will be hosting three separate running events which include 3K, 5K, and 9K events that will cost 350, 450, and 550 pesos accordingly.
"Hopefully this event will be successful since isa ito sa mga first hosted running event ng Team Malaya," Balanquit added.
Organizers said registration fee is inclusive of singlet, reflectorized bib, certificate, and a light snack, while the 9K finishers will receive a finisher’s medal.
Partnering with Team Malaya is John Hay Management Corporation, and Camp John Hay Development Corporation.
Aside from the prizes for the run, organizers said participants joining the event who will be wearing a superhero costume will be receiving a special prize.
"Since malapit siya sa Halloween inisip namin na gawin na rin na mas entertaining for the participants ang pagtakbo, which we think will also get to encourage more people to join," Balanquit added.
